    Description:

    The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is seeking a versatile and energetic reporter to help lead its coverage of University of Pittsburgh athletics. This reporter would serve as the lead writer on the Pitt football beat while also assisting in coverage of Pitt basketball, other varsity sports and the athletic department as a whole.

    Past experience covering college sports is preferred but not required. Candidates should have experience reporting and developing a wide array of stories with a strong focus on digital and audience-engaging content. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    – Producing stories, including breaking news, analysis, human interest and enterprise, regularly across multiple publishing platforms.

    – Examining analytics tools, fostering audience discussion and using social media to better promote and inform coverage.

    – Understanding basic digital-publishing and SEO principles.

    – Building and maintaining sources on beat.

    – Willingness to innovate and utilize non-traditional storytelling and methods.
