Mike Ilitch has NOTTHINK TO DO with the casino!! NOTTHINK!!

The casino is owned by his wife, Marian.

And Marian had nothing to do with the Tigers before she applied for the casino app. Nothing. Ask Dan Ewald.

Nope bring the Pistons downtown too. The payroll taxes for the roster itself outta help out the struggling city. Still can't believe that the city has an f'ing payroll tax. Only place I've ever worked that has one.

What I'd like to know is if the Palace is even any good for hockey? Some arenas (America West) are just awful for hockey.

The Detroit Vipers (IHL) played at the Palace from 1994-2001.

Not sure how the sight lines were for that though.

Funny, Bill Davidson built his own arena. Too bad Ilitch can't.

The Palace is a much better hockey arena than Joe Louis, which isn't saying much, and better than a lot of other NHL arenas.

  8. Lot of municipalities in MI and across the country have payroll taxes. Don't know why this is such a surprise.

The Palace was built with hockey in mind, even though it didn't have an immediate tenant. America West was not.

I know. I'm hoping he over-extends himself and the Red Wings and Tigers end up as shitty as his pizzas.

I think Ilitch either still is or has just recently paid off his debts on Comerica Park.

And the Palace only cost $70 million, which is fairly cheap for a stadium these days.
