Pistons coach Michael Curry... oops. Wait.

Curry has a good pedigree. He'll land on his feet somewhere. The Pistons don't have a lot of direction right now with their roster, but let's see what happens in free agency.

This is basically what I was going to say. The Pistons quit on the season, as an organization, when they made the Iverson deal. Now you fire the coach because he couldn't win with mismatched parts? Doesn't seem fair.

Actually, you fire the coach for not being able to co-exist with the one star you have left, Rip Hamilton.

Curry never should have benched Hamilton in favor of Iverson. At the very least, Hamilton earned the right to be informed of the move in private, before it was announced to the entire fucking world.

Curry alienated the one guy he shouldn't alienate. Sure, Dumars fucked up the team and left Curry in an untenable situation, but until recently (like, yesterday) Dumars was willing to give Curry another year. He pissed off Rip and many of his allied teammates, who spread the word throughout the league that Curry was a chump who didn't respect his players.

Good luck attracting free agents with that going around.

In the end, Curry HAD to go in order for the Pistons to have any shot at an offseason. Yes, Hamilton handled himself poorly in the whole thing, but he also had a right to be pissed off, IMO.

Pistons were a low playoff seed regardless of what happened this offseason with coaching or personnel, barring a huge trade.

    Gene Shue?

Any takers for Kevin Loughery, Stan Albeck or even time to bring back Dick Vitale?

Avery makes sense. Another Louisiana boy, like Joe. Don't know if their relationship is very deep though. Plus, I think Avery is a decent coach. He could do worth.

Agree with the bad moves in the last few years. Picking Rasheed over Flip was a mistake. Picking AI to be on any team is a mistake. No opinion on Ben Gordon, who's a volume shooter who's harmless enough if you limit his role to that. All Vinny Johnson could do was shoot and the Pistons of those days made that work.

I'm surprised at Joe's tolerance of Rasheed.

Ha. Does Avery still lisp a little? Maybe it's appropriate.

I'm curious if the Pistons sign Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva (who Ric Bucher earlier said on ESPN Radio are both in Detroit today) where that puts Rip and Tayshaun.

They need a true shooter. Like Billups. Why do they need Ben Gordon for 11 million when they have Rip and Stuckey and Aflallo. Aflalo sucks, but so does Gordon.
