Pirates announcer Lanny Frattare retires after 33 years..

    Pirates broadcasts are minimalist weird. They will go for what seems like whole minutes at a time without saying a word.

    It's not bad, it's just weird. I still prefer the Pirates' broadcasts over the Astros in the NL Central, sometimes the Cubs too if I'm not in the mood for Santo, or the Cardinals if Mike Shannon is grating on me.

    Lanny is a good guy. I'm sure the Pirates will miss him.

    Especially back in the A-B days when Buck and Shannon would practically have an on-air kegger.
