We haven't posted an ad, so forgive me if this is a little rough. I'm trying to hit the highlights. Please PM me if you have any questions:

The Vicksburg Post, a 10,000-circulation afternoon daily in Vicksburg, Mississippi, is in need of a photographer. It's a general assignment position. You'll be shooting everything from sports to news to magazine feature pictures, which will give you plenty of latitude to flex your creative muscles. We produce several magazines that will take you beyond the day-to-day drudgery of a newspaper.

This is a full-time position, with benefits and a 401(k) plan offered. Pay is not that great (I think I heard around $25,000 per year), but the cost of living in Mississippi is low. Vicksburg is a town of about 50,000 people located on the Mississippi River and I-20. There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation, as well as four casinos and some other nightlife. If you want to get out of town for the weekend, we're only three or four hours from Memphis, New Orleans and Birmingham, as well as the college towns of Baton Rouge, Oxford and Starkville.

If interested, please contact managing editor Jan Griffey at jan.griffey@vicksburgpost.com

Vicksburg is one of the best places to live in Mississippi. If this was a sports writer job, and I was in a different life and at a younger age, I'd be on it.

Well, if you know any photographers that might be interested please point them in our direction. We're going on six months without a staff photographer. This is a great job for a recent college grad with a good attitude. You'll work a lot, like you would at any small paper, but you'll also learn a lot and have the opportunity to build a portfolio. Vicksburg's got some fun, interesting stuff going on throughout the year.
