I'm a sucker for photos, admittedly. But watching the evolution of this was fantastic to me.

My friends live in Astoria, and their apartment is about 50 feet from the elevated subway. On the 4th of July, we had a party in their (small) backyard and the subway rumbled by every 5 minutes or so.

I'm a rural boy through and through, but I absolutely loved hearing/feeling that.

How many people know that hockey maven Stan Fischler is considered an expert on the NYC subway system?

Just watching how not only the trains have changed, but the people on them. So cool.

Thanks for the link, IJAG. I love trains, always was a subway rider growing up. Spent way too much time on them.
