Photo editor didn't notice it? Uh, sure...

Canadian paper, the Peterborough Examiner, has published an apology correction. Seems, in printing the pic of a bunch of kids enjoying the annual Santa Parade, nobody in the photo department noticed that the kid who is the main focus of the pic was... well... hanging brain.

Showed it to my son - first thing he said, "Dude is hanging out."

There is no photo editor at that paper. There's one full-time photographer and the rest of their staff has been shredded by multiple cuts. Aside from the photog, they probably had one, maybe two other people see that page before it went to print.

I'd love to say 'this is what happens when you don't have enough staff to check stuff' but man, how do you not catch that?

I think this rises above the level of "anonymous guy facepalm."

This calls for the "Picard-Decker facepalm."

    It also qualifies for this:

Don't they call photographers at one-person photo desks editors just to make them feel good?

No. You'd have to pay them more if you did.

    C'mon.
From "St. Peter" from "Peterborough, Ontario, Canada?"

I'm pretty sure the photog is not responsible for putting the image on the page. Some editor is and missed it.
And if "only" two people saw the page, then two people missed it.

    Inexcusable.

Yeah, but then they're "supervisors" so they're on salary and you can work them 168 hours a week.
