Philippines help

Not sure if anyone knows a lot about the group of islands, or if any of our military vets have been over there.

A buddy of mine who's stationed in Korea in the Army was in the Philippines last week on vacation. Does anyone know where that typhoon did most of its damage in relation to the tourist/vacation/beach spots? (I realize everything is the beach, yes.)

I don't know what part of the Philippines he was going to for sure, but looking at a map this morning, I kind of got the impression that there were plenty of safe spots to be when the typhoon hit.

    Any help?
