Philadelphia Rises

    I was born there, but to read this thread, the place sure has improved since my family moved away when I was in grade school. It was a shithole then.

    Years ago, Philadelphia was the rich snooty city, and New York was only where the Philadelphia society people went to board the ship for Europe.

    Depending on where in South Jersey you are and your plans, you can always take the train over and do Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell then to leave time for some of the other stuff on Saturday and Sunday before you go.

    I second the Reading Terminal Market.

    You are talking ANCIENT history. Philly is not like that now. Like I said, I always have a good time there.

    Can't believe I forgot about Reading Terminal. Great food, particularly when the Pa. Dutch folks are in town. Mmm, scrapple.
