Phil Robertson prayed for a 'Jesus man' to be president at today's NASCAR invocation

Oh I wasn't defending it. Certainly inappropriate but completely unsurprising.

I learned a new word today ...

 

I find them both distasteful, but that is because of their content. If a privately-owned race series wants an invocation, especially at a privately-owned track, that's their call.

 

There have been some around these parts who would suggest that since TMS depends on, e.g., the police for traffic control, etc., that any such invocation is perilously close to a "separation of church and state" violation ...

 

Bless their hearts.

 

For the record, I do not oppose NASCAR having an invocation.

 

I have to guess this is well-settled law.
