I saw where Phil left The Memorial yesterday after shooting 79.

    "Mental Fatigue"

You were fine when you were even through 11, but all of a sudden, your brain starts to hurt when you were 7 over, now we're burnt.

He couldn't stick around for 24 hours and play a round of golf because he was too tired after a vacation? Wow.

And has a corporate event Monday.....me thinks Jack doesn't send another invite his way.

    Imagine if Tiger . . .

That back nine would make my brain hurt, too.

OK, so he's too far off the pace to have any chance of winning. Probably even a long-shot to make the cut and make any money. So with the Open two weeks away, I understand the decision to bail now.

    Not a chance in hell.

Tiger has too much respect and admiration for Jack to bail after shooting 79 because of "mental fatigue"

BTW: If anyone is watching Tiger play right now, this round has all the makings of 63.

Not watching, but a lot of people were saying after yesterday's round that he was doing the kinds of things he needed to do to contend. So, it sounds like he's put it together today.

It's an invitational but a guy with Phil's status is automatically in if he wants to play, regardless of what Jack thinks. The top-70 from the previous year's points list, for example, get into all invitationals (Jack's, Hilton Head, Colonial, Bay Hill, etc.).
Plus, Phil getting into the Hall of Fame means he's exempt for life in everything except the majors. He's in for life at the Masters, and in until 65 in the PGA. Still has to be eligible for the U.S. Open and British, since he hasn't won them, but as long as he hangs around the top-50 in the world, he's there.

The 20+ career PGA Tour wins gets Phil a lifetime exemption. Remember a few years ago when Davis Love III won at Disney? That was his 20th career victory and the lifetime exemption was in all ensuing stories.

It's what got Greg Norman into the Humana Challenge earlier this year without that event having to burn a sponsor's exemption.

Feherty gets a dream second to last grouping.....Fowler/Woods, while Kostis gets to watch Levin blow up and shoot 79 alongside Sabbatini.
