Is this OK for a standalone thread? It's a politically appointed position, but not electoral politics necessarily ...

Seriously - over an extramarital affair? Bill Clinton laughs in his general direction.

I'm not so worried that he had an affair, but if he's the director of the CIA and can't keep it secret, he's no good for us.

Haven't seen more details, but if it's costing him his job I'm going to guess it was with a subordinate. And that would be life imitating art. #homeland

If it is with a subordinate --- and I haven't read anything to that effect --- than that can be abuse of power. So a little different story.

That old MoveOn ad "Petraeus or Betray Us?" -- guess the wife has the answer now.

The guy wants to run for President, doesn't want to appear too cozy with the Dems, but doesn't want to appear disloyal to the guy who appointed him. Goes out - has an affair. Resigns over it. Suddenly he's a man of honor. Still loved and respected by all.

His wife is at least a 6. Surprised that he would stray. Story has an Advise and Consent feel to it. There was a feeling that Petraeus threw Obama under the bus with some leaks on Bengazi. This might be payback.

Saw a good article comment: "Gives new meaning to the term 'de-briefing.'"
