    Welcome to real life.

    It's about paying attention.

You almost think he couldn't expense the thing. The other funny thing is that he didn't mention how many cities use taxes on rental cars to pay for their football stadiums - but I guess that's perfectly fine.

Not like this is a new or recent practice, either.

What's next on the list--not getting a full meal in coach on a flight?

I guess Peter King has never rented a car in the last 30 years.

If he's in the middle, in the back, I feel for him.

But, somehow, I doubt that's the case.

Dumbest thing I've read all day. I guess Mr. Northeast Corridor doesn't rent cars all that often.

No way. PK is a man of the people. His father was an iron worker you know.

I think what he's trying to do with this stuff like the rental car anecdote is connect with the harried business traveler. But as several people here have noted, who the hell didn't know that you pay like double the price per gallon if the rental company has to fill the tank? The harried business traveler reading Peter is not going to think "heck, yeah, that guy's right," he's going to think "what a doofus."

He might not be booked first class but you would think that he would qualify for an upgrade with his miles. Or maybe he cashes out the first class ticket and buys coach.
All I know is that if I travelled as much as him, I wouldn't leave that much of a paper trail for the accounting department to pick over.

Anyone know how it would work for a guy like him, who travels here and there and probably doesn't book six weeks in advance? Orbitz?
