    He could never live up to his father, of course, but he had a fine career of his own.

    I always enjoyed his understated turn as Ulee in "Ulee's Gold."

    Closest to any Hollywood celebrity was PF at LAX while waiting for a taxi and he was dropped off from a limo. He was in cowboy boots and a buckskin jacket and I was shocked at how tall and lean he was, towering over everyone. The baggage porters knew him and were laughing and joking with him. I believe it was 2000.
    RIP to an icon of my generation and an owner of an amazing social life.

    Yes he was an icon growning up. May he RIP. (Forgot that we lost Hopper in 2010!)
