Darren Rovell reports Carroll announced the hiring of Kevin O'Neill about 30 minutes before any news organization posted it.

Is it just me, or isn't O'Neill a raging a-hole? Most of what I remember seems to attach itself to his tenure at Tennessee, but the Arizona thing didn't end well either, did it?

This hiring makes me think the hoops program is in deep doodoo with the NCAA.

    Not just hoops, I suspect.

The football equivalent of Kevin O'Neill would be....Chan Gailey?

I'll admit I don't know O'Neil's background, outside of what he did at Arizona and the fact that he was at Tennessee, Northwestern and Marquette.

Does the fact that they hired a guy w/ a losing record basically mean he's a stopgap while the NCAA drops the bomb?

They should have gone after Jamie Dixon.

Good for him. Pitt built a palace. Went to college with Jamie.

Between a Mississippi paper and the football coaching staff, the LA Times sure is cleaning up on this beat. :)

It could be worse, how long until papers are quoting Twitter pages?
