Pet peeve: College stat rankings ... after two games!

    Raise your hand if you think it's overkill to hear ESPN (or read a newspaper) listing stat ranking after stat ranking for a player or team two weeks into the season. Such things as the national top 10 in total offense or scoring defense don't begin to mean anything until about the eighth week or so, but because nobody plays the exact same schedule, it's always going to be an imperfect comparison.

    Pat White's ranking in passing offense right now? Meaningless.
