I like toasted buns, but it isn’t a must. A good bit of bread is what I require. It being toasted or not doesn’t change my mind on the burger unless I get sourdough.

As for meat, a big, juicy piece of bed to bite into is very satisfying.

    Burger:
With cheese: ketchup, tomato, onion, pickle
    Without cheese: Ketchup, mayo, tomato

    Hot dog: ketchup

Pizza: pepperoni, green pepper, Roma tomatoes.

Mustard: belongs in the trash. Do not even bring it in my house.

On the other hand, I will eat tomatoes on damned near anything. Picked up a big thing of grape tomatoes at the store that I may just eat plain while I prep meals.

Thick patty, grilled. You can get the outside of the burger a little crusty while the inside stays a bit juicy.

And since being diagnosed as a Type II diabetic, it was surprising to me how little I missed the buns on hamburgers or hot dogs. Lettuce wrap or just with the toppings we've mentioned works just fine.

Hamburger - grilled onions, mayo, mustard, ketchup and relish.

Hot Dog - mustard, relish, onion. Incidentally this is “une toute garnie” in Montreal which expressly excludes ketchup as a possibility. I don’t mind a little slaw or fresh kraut as well.

Pizza - black olives, sweet onion, extra hot capicollo

Bleu cheese and bacon on a burger, it’s wonderful.

A place in town makes Bleu cheese and bacon burgers. I devoured this one.
