No alert? I WAS THERE!!! What excitement. The 9th was like a rock concert.

Actually, I'm still of the belief no-hitters and perfect games should get their own threads. Without this thread, I would have had no idea there was a perfect game last night.

Nothing against the Dallas Bradens or Phil Humbers of the world but these achievements always seem better to me when they happen for a true stud like Cain. Gregor Blanco's catch will be talked about for a long time in San Francisco, too, I imagine.

If it helps, Buster Olney just tweeted a no-hitter alert in anticipation of Verlander pitching at Wrigley Field today.

C'mon folks, start a freakin thread for this stuff. Running threads have killed this board. Used to be a great way to scan for headlines and news. No more.

    The new Cain plan: zero-zero-zero.

Awesome! I was at Yankee Stadium for Wells' perfecto in '98. It's something you will never forget. I was never a big autograph guy, but I woe try to get Cain's sig on the ticket.

So was I. Beanie Baby Day.

Since this was pretty much pre-internet the town was electric after the game. I remember answering a ton of questions on the subway after the game and on the streets.

Which catch will be more memorable: Wise's or Blanco's?

Blanco's was the better catch. Wise's was in the ninth inning.

    Tough call.

Same here. This is the first I've heard of it.
    Good for Cain.

That's actually the first thing I thought when I read this thread title - something about Herman Cain.
