    I had a great interaction with Billy Martin as a kid, getting his autograph after an A's game. Got Rickey's then as well. So few people went to the A's game back then, it was easy as they left the locker room.

    I met Joe Carter once and he was definitely not a dick to me. Actually really friendly.

    If anything, Ted Williams softened in his older age. As unfriendly a person as there was as a player, though.

    Kirby Puckett was one of the first guys I thought of too, but his deep dark side was beginning to trickle out even before he died.
