The Pensacola News Journal is seeking an innovative sports designer
able
to handle section-front layout four to five days a week.

Candidates must have experience in the daily demands of section design
and ability to create consistent presentation. The position is ideal
for
someone looking to develop as a sports-front designer, while becoming
accustomed to the normal stress of deadline conditions and working with
reporters with late copy flow.

Responsibilities include designing, editing sports front and possibly
occasional writing duties.

What happened to George Moore?

 

From what I heard, the PNJ and George Moore parted ways over the summer, but I don't know the circumstances. Happy to see Bill Vilona get the promotion, especially since he lost the Florida State beat when Gannett acquired Tallahassee.

 

Bill Vilona is a great guy and would be a great boss.

I have absolutely no information about the job, but that's worth mentioning: Billy Vee is good people.

 

Did he go to Melbourne or was that somebody else from the PNJ?

 

That was someone else.

 

I would be the someone else referenced above who left the PNJ for Florida Today.

Anyone who wants any information, please feel free to ask.

For the record, Bill Vilona is a great, great guy, and Phil Nickinson, who oversees much of the design throughout the paper, is top-notch as well.

But in the interest of full disclosure, there are some issues here, so keep your eyes open.
