"Yeah, I don't give a hell. It's about this U, man. I don't give a flyin' you-know-what about a Vol. I don't give a damn! He would do the same thing to me. It's war. They don't give a freakin' you-know-what about you. They will kill you. They're out there to kill you. So I'm 'a kill 'em. You write that in the paper. You write that. You make money off that. No, man, I'm pissed. All y'all take this down. I'm pissed, man. We don't care about nobody except this U. We don't. If I didn't hurt him, he'd hurt me. They were gunnin' for my legs. I'm a come right back at 'em. I'm a fuckin' soldier!"

This would be an Alabama tragedy:

    Perspective please, Coach Saban.

According to the transcript of the press conference in one of the articles, the comment about Pearl Harbour was: "Pearl Harbor got us ready for World War II or whatever"

Or maybe he wasn't sure what it got the US ready for.

    Army/Navy game?

Actually, it is and it isn't. It's a horror that the kids and wife died (the youngest is not expected to make it). But if that woman-beating deadbeat asshole of a waste of DNA dies, after what he's done with his life, we're a better place for it.

So what analogy should Lloyd Carr have used to describe the Michigan loss to Appy State?

"We need to bounce back from that catastrophe. God ... that was worse than when Darth Vader blew up Alderraan. But the Rebel Alliance bounced back after they blew up Alderraan, Big Blue can too."

The comments do not even dignify a column.

What can you say, really, that isn't going to be "Well, Duh!"

So how do you comment on the story?

You simply run Saban's words in 18-point bold type.

With a once-sentence commentary that reads: "Alabama fans, this is your football coach."

So what's he going to say after they lose to Auburn?

A Jesus crucification or JFK assassination reference?

Nick apparently has never had anything bad happen in his life.
If he had, then maybe he wouldn't make bullshit comparisons.
Makes me wonder how pissed he was that games got canceled the week of 9/11.
"WHAT? WE'RE FOOTBALL! NO ONE REMEMBERED WHAT HAPPENED IN NYC BY THURSDAY!"
And they wonder why coaches and athletes get called out of touch so often.

Actually, I'm surprised he even knew 9-11 happened.

He likely spent that Tuesday holed up in his windowless bunker working his 18-hour day.
