Paul Krugman is plain awful

    I hope the president is re-elected, but wouldn't be surprised if he isn't if the economy is still in terrible shape.     Exactly. The thought during that day was that the Capitol, the White House and, indeed, the President were targets. No one ever expressed the worry that the Mayor of New York was being targeted. And, as you mention, Bush was back in the White House by that night and delivered exactly the speech the nation needed to hear.
