Isn't Los Angeles planning on building a football stadium? Perfect place for the Scientologists to bury Haggis and Wright's bodies.

I saw a Scientology.org commercial last night, it was from my DVR so it was either Desperate Housewives or How I Met Your Mother ... the people looked very very happy and you never would have known it was anything about spirituality, it could just as well have been a Viagra commercial.

    Sirs, Madames,

Way back I read his memoir In the New World and it was a fun read, nothing as dense and research-driven as his later stuff. Funny career curve: You wouldn't guess that the Looming Tower/Haggis writer would even be inclined to read the memoir, never mind write it.

    YHS, etc

(And within that link you'll find a link to the groundbreaking LAT series about the Sci-tos.)

(BTW, there's a huge, glowing, Scientology Today add looking back at me from right below the box in which I type. Creepy.)

Rolling Stone's Janet Reitman has a new book out, Inside Scientology:

Holy crap! Nancy Cartright gave them $10 million in one year!

You can't lose convincing people in the arts that they don't deserve what they have.

  7. Is Cartwright still a practicing member?

Shit. I wish I had the people skills to form a cult.

Certain she is, as The Simpsons continues to pull all punches regarding this particular freak show.

That's why I love "South Park." No sacred cows there, as Isaac Hayes finally learned.

I'm beginning to feel like an expert on Scientology. I read the Wright article, the Reitman book and now the new Wright book. Jesus these people are creepy but it's fascinating stuff nonetheless. I'm always amazed that smart people can get caught up in these things.

I got chatted up by a Scientologist the last time I was in the Southland. Holy crap. He wanted to throw hands with my buddy next to me who threw out the J-bomb.
