    I know one thing for sure. You can't blame the Patriots' coaching staff. They were too busy watching tapes of the Colts' practice in preparation for this week's game to be the ones in charge of this.

    What is meant by "automated"? I apologize for being clueless regarding twitter but didn't someone have to write the offending word?

    I'd wager it's almost impossible someone manually retweeted that, and typed in IHATEN----S to appear on the back of that jersey. Whatever program the Pats had hooked up to their team Twitter account was likely taking new Twitter followers and automatically repurposing them for their own account. I bet the n-word would have been caught in the offensive words filter, but not IHATEN-----S.

    Also, on the jersey it looks like the "I" in the n-word is actually the number 1.
