Boy, does he look old. He has to be closing in on 80 by now. Great to hear he'll be doing the Cotton Bowl for Fox though.

One of my best memories growing up was listening to he and John Madden call the Giants games in the mid-1980s. Even the '86 Masters, which my dad thankfully taped, is great to listen to.

Sports athletes and broadcasters just shouldn't grow old.

That would have been so cool if Pat came on and said, "What's up motherfuckers!"

    Or not.

Did they get him to say Chris Boniol's name?

I want to see the rapper side of Summerall:

"So Pat, why are you announcing the Cotton Bowl this year?"

"Because that's how I roll, bitches."

What, the town drunk gets sympathy?

    He did it to himself.

    He turned 80 to himself?

I'm missing the call for sympathy, I guess.

    He's 76. He just looks 102.

Still the best NFL play by play ever. The voice commanded respect and attention and he allowed the game to be the focus not himself.

    No doubt about it.

Age has a little to do with it, Mr. Falk.

Going intravenious to a degree that would have put Drydrunk #43 to shame on his worst days,
had much more to do with it. And he thought he could get away with it, because, hey,
he was Pat Summerall, and you aren't.

The Cotton Bowl will be a broadcast disaster.

Empathy is one thing; I understand. But I devote most of my sympathetic outpourings to people
who didn't bring their problems squarely upon themselves.

Summerall was fine and all back in his prime, but something tells me he would just be another Charlie Jones if he wasn't with Madden.

Pat has (had?) a GREAT voice for TV sportscasting. Nothing opened doors like being young
    and a Giant, of course.
