Not trying to be inappropriate, but this thread was a big help to me because some idiot on my Twitter feed thought Scott Weiland died in a bike crash. This, while absolutely horrible, makes much more sense.

    RIP
Hopefully they'll neutralize the start or something tomorrow in his memory.

Wouter's team, Leopard-Trek, will continue in the race.

The race has been neutralized today, with each team taking ceremonial turns of 10K at the lead of the peloton...and at the red kite, race leader David Millar will give way to Leopard-Trek, who will cross the finish line in unison.

The podium ceremony will be a team-wide affair.

Sadly, Leopard-Trek may be joined on the podium by Wouter's longtime girlfriend. She is 3-months pregnant with Wouter's first child.

That was a good gesture by the organizers and teams.

He must have been screaming down the descent and hit that rock wall. Hopefully this will lead to a future better thought to race routes.

Have heard Leopard Trek has withdrawn from the race after today's stage. Watched the last 10K this afternoon ... very moving.

Another well-liked member of the peloton dies in what could be described as a cycling accident -- he was preparing to go for a training ride when his garage door fell in on him, killing him...
