France is the most heavily policed place, as in visible cops around, with some carrying submachine guns, I have ever been to. Nothing in the States compares. Soccer match security is extremely, as in you will be frisked, tight. Apparently, the main acts took place in a crowded restaurant sprayed with gunfire from cars (nothing any cop could do) and an attack on a heavy metal concert, where there are still many hostages, but you'd figure there would have been police present in the normal order of things.

At a time like this, I hate that my Twitter feed is clogged with sports.

On a related note, while this place can annoy the shit out of me, I appreciate that whenever a significant news event happens, this is inevitably the first place I can go to follow it.

AP reporting 35-40 dead, CNN says "at least 60." God dammit, man.

Horrifying stuff. Some actual world leaders need to emerge or it's just going to get worse.

I'd really like how many people are holding these hostages. Must be a pretty large group to hold that many hostages.

This had to be planned over a really long period of time.
