Starting to wonder if we're seeing another version parents who fret about their kids not being admitted into Harvard or Yale if they're not admitted into the "right" preschool? Why can't parents let their kids have a childhood?

  2. Actually it is school based here in Pennsylvania. This isn't just an open youth tournament. These kids are wrestling qualifying tournaments representing their school just like the high school kids are. The PJW state tournament isn't just an open tournament that any dad can enter their son/daughter in.

I agree that having kids representing elementary schools in state tournaments is dumb.

The problem with the column is that the writer clearly is against it but tries to be objective and quotes people on both sides. However, the negative side is never really fleshed out well so it seems the writer is just being pissy instead of making a point.

Youth sports aren't about the kids or the parents. It's about the money and who's making it.

The thread title is inaccurate. It's not an objective question.
