    I loathe parantheses in quotes, but I know some writers who use them constantly. They've established who someone is talking about, but they still feel it necessary to put, "He (Switzer) was a great coach (at OU)," Stoops said. Drives me insane. And I see it all over the place. I blame writers and editors both. Writers who use it as a crutch, feeling they need to cover their arses, and editors who are too hesitant to remove it.
