Papelbon throws some high cheese at Manny

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Batman, Mar 12, 2009.

  1. To be fair - many got that idea from the biased coverage of the Splinter by the "Knights of the Keyboards". Where is your blame for them?

Paps is headed for a major decline. His shoulder is going to give out very soon. I hope he sucks the rest of his career for digging up this trash. I love Manny and if you can't deal with him then go off yourself.

If the Sox are smart, they'll sign him to a long term deal after the 2009 season. Papelbon is only 20 saves short of breaking Bob Stanley's all-time saves record and Papelbon is still only 28.

It is, but if you're the Red Sox, you're happy to have a real closer you can depend on season after season after Schilling, Foulke, Wakefield and numerous others have failed to remain at that position for a long period of time.

Sox fans never gave Manny one of those endearing nick names like Yaz or Dewey or Big Papi or Yuk or Tek or Schill or Pap . that was the key indicator that the fans never adopted him.

  7. Papelbon is not smart. He should have signed a long term deal because he could end his career on any given night. The Red Sox are happy to go year to year with him because they know that. They don't want any dead money contracts. Papelbon admitted to being worn down last season - his should obviously doesn't have "limitless powers".

If your name ends with a -y or an -ie, do you really need a nickname? Hell, 90 percent of hockey nicknames consist of adding one of the aforementioned to a guy's name. Though a small number of Sox fans took to calling his ManRam. Make your jokes here.

He should have known that from day one, or shortly thereafter. His great rookie season was cut short by a shoulder problem.

It still blows my mind that he would have been unavailable if they had a lead in Game Seven last year.

  11. So his shoulder doesn't have limitless power?
