The KKK never had control over an exensive arsenal of military weaponry, never had its own armies, never had the power to crush dissent that the Taliban does.

As Cran aptly noted, the two greatest military powers of the last century were unable to drive out the Taliban after decade plus long wars, so not sure why anyone would think a group of impoverished and unarmed civilians could easily rise up and do so. Somehow I'm guessin the Soviet and U.S. militaries could've handed the KKK.

But the Taliban did not come about until around 1994 which means they could not have fought the Soviets.

Who do you think the Taliban is?

It's the same damn group of people who were the "Mujahideen warriors" fighting the Soviets, it's the same damn people the United States spent untold billions funding, arming, training and empowering throughout the 1980s (which, of course, is yet another reason they're incomparably more powerful than the KKK could ever have dreamed of being--we helped make them that way). What changed in the 90s is they picked up the Taliban name, seized formal control over the Afghan Govt, and turned on us, their former sugar daddy, in a huge way--but it was still the same people.

Not flaming, but honest question, what did you hope to accomplish with that statement? Seems needless.
