The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas (42K) has a couple of page design openings on the universal desk, including one that will primarily be for sports. The Morning News is an APSE award-winning sports section and offers a great opportunity for designers to make their mark. Tons of space (average 10-12 pages per day in sports), tons of color available every day and the freedom to think outside the box. If you are a page designer looking to build great clips and want the opportunity to use your creativity, then this is a great opportunity for you. In addition to the daily newspaper, there is also an Arkansas fan magazine Hawgs Illustrated that offers more design opportunity. Contact John Nebling (jnebling@nwaonline.net) or Fran Johnson (fjohnson@nwaonline.net). You can also contact the sports editor (email csouza@nwaonline.net or call 479-872-5131) for more information on the sports designer position. They are probably looking to move quickly on the sports job with a huge football section and the start of the season just around the corner.

The main office is located in Springdale, the center of the rapidly growing Northwest Arkansas region. The area offers something for everyone. There's plenty of nightlife for those seeking it, and it's a great place to raise a family. If you are into outdoors, there's no better place to be. It's also close enough to Tulsa, Kansas City, Oklahoma City, St. Louis and even Dallas for quick getaways.

For those interested in sports design, you have tons of space to do some killer designs and we give you the freedom to do it. We blow out coverage of Arkansas sports, do tons of enterprise and takeouts and have a great staff of writers and photographers. The universal desk made the change to InDesign about a year ago and we went to the narrow web about a month ago.

I question the value of the word "quick" when the trip is 5 hours one way to Dallas. However, the rest of the places mentioned are closer.
