i do believe there is fringe coverage of Alabama and Auburn -- mostly gameday stuff.

 

Who's the SE at this rag? Guy/gal must be a total a--hole.

They seem to run off a sports writer or desker at a rate of about one a year.

I don't know about an asshole, but his knowledge of college basketball is sorely lacking.

Is it true his knowledge of the rules of golf isn't much better that his hoops knowlege?

 

And his card playing knowledge is less than both of those put together

 

My sources tell me the SE is afraid to get a regular card game going. Or at least he has been for the past two years. Coincidence? I think not.

Another thing about the job. Whoever takes it will be close to a bunch of major cities. Huntsville is an hour. Nashville and Birmingham are two hours away. Memphis is three, Atlanta is 4 and New Orleans is just under seven. The Shoals is nice enough, but if you want to get away for a day or a weekend, there's plenty of options.

Might make writing there interesting...maybe not so much in page design, but Bowden jokes should be non-stop in the office.

 

And God help you if you forget the hyphen or, worse, make a joke about it.

 

… And let's not forget about the fine casinos in Tunica, Miss., located just a few hours west of Florence.

 

Perhaps my biggest regret is not making it over to the casinos. My wallet thanks me, though.
