    Description:

    The Hawaii Tribune-Herald, a 17,000-circulation daily newspaper located in Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii, has an immediate opening in its sports department for a talented copy editor/designer with a broad set of skills.

    Our ideal candidate is a creative designer with a strong attention to detail. Although the primary duty is to paginate, edit copy and write headlines, some writing will be required and the ability to compile briefs is a must.

    Requirements: at least two years of full-time sports design at a daily newspaper; ability to use social media and update websites; InDesign.

    A good portion of the Hawaii Tribune-Herald’s hyper-local coverage focuses on prep sports at island high schools and the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

    This is a full-time hourly position with a competitive salary, good benefits and a good working environment in Hawaii. Candidates should be able to move within three or four weeks upon hire. Two-year commitment required.
