Probably because the first time he asked to come back after his tearful retirement speech, they welcomed him with open arms. And then he changed his mind again.

Are you kidding me? Favre's been his Viagra for weeks now.

If your erection lasts more than six weeks, convince Brett Favre to retire.

John Madden just blew his load and he has no idea why.

    Yes he does.

His wife said she'd cook turducken tonight.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. The majority of Packers' fans were on the Packers' side in this. Most were sick and tired of the Favre bullshit.

I suppose this is about a best-case scenario as there could be. I was pro-Packers in this, up until it got out they were willing to trade him within the division, that's when they jumped the shark of following their post-Favre plan to obtuseness.

It's going to be interesting what reception Favre gets from the fans when he returns. I figure a third of Packers fans will forgive and forget, a third will be forever resentful of Favre, and the other third will wait-and-see.

News of a possible trade within the division and the $20 million deal had started to turn that tide, however.

As for fans and their fickle nature...

If No. 4 wins the job and beats the Vikes in the opener, me thinks the love will be flowing from 99% of 'em.

    Winning cures all ills.

And if Rodgers wins the job in camp but stinks up the house in the opener and No. 4 is still on the team? It won't be long before fans are calling for the old man to get the job back.

Can't argue with that. The threat to trade within the division turned me a bit, and I'm freaking stoic and level-headed compared to most Packers fans, so I see your point.

I don't cover the team and don't cover the NFL.

But as a fan of the game I want to see him play as long as he is healthy.

I was sad to see Elway forced to hang it up.

Never got used to seeing Montana in a Chiefs uniform.

The business of the games has made it much more difficult for guys to stay in one place forever.

I admit to being selfish in this way.

When you get great athletes who elevate a franchise I prefer to see them play as long as they can and finish their careers with said franchise.

    E. Smith not in a Cowboys uniform? Unitas anywhere but with the Colts?

    Ugh.

Wasn't it Favre who first broached the idea of getting traded elsewhere, when the team was less-than-enthusiastic about his latest "Uh . . .I'm not really sure what I wanna do!" episode?
