Outsourcing journalism jobs to India

One thing a newspaper/news website needs is an open communication between readers and writers. It's why newspapers provide contact information for reporters under their bylines or at the end of stories (how else would JV swimming parents contact us!?).

So what happens with this Pasadena site when a reader wants to contact Punjab the "reporter." There's nothing I hate more than customer service numbers being outsourced so when you have a problem with your computer or something you're left talking to some shit-eating towel head whose English is worse than my dog's.

The English is horrible. Here's a lede from a soccer story. It's sad when "breaking news" occurred in August.

Or this story on construction. Read the lede.

I'll pile it on with this story on a suspect waiving extradition. The headline and the lede don't match up.

The reporting thing is indeed old news.

But the spectre of copy desks being consolidated among several papers, or all copy editing -- perhaps all newspaper production work -- being done offshore, is still looming.

The fact that -- writing for a Pasadena paper, no less -- this non-journalist thought the Rose Bowl was a food event pretty much says it all.

    LMFAO. Good one.
Maybe it will come full circle and in my community, where I can count nine India natives who are doctors (I can't begin to pronounce their names), actual Americans will retake medical practice.
