You want to help your daughter sleep? Then put her on your freakin' shoulder and rock her or pat her gently. Don't give her god-forsaken Chardonnay.

Guess though it could be worse. She could have been an mom from Ohio, where on take your kid to work day it's optional to take them out of the car.

Back when I was a kid--about ten years before Spinited was born---parents (not mine, of course) feed their infants sugar cubes soaked in whiskey to help them sleep.

 

Yes, the mom sounds like a mouth-breather, but this struck me as odd:

Why did they think she'd do something with it besides drink it? Did the baby have little pieces of Havarti cheese, so they suspected it would want some wine to go with it?

 

My grandmother's recipe for a toothache was to dab a little bourbon on the sore tooth.

Sadly, she never had good taste in spirits.

 

Granny made butterscotch toddies for coughs and colds. Scotch is still my drink. Wonder why.
