Orlando Thomas, not dead

The former Viking has been battling ALS. The Vikings web site reported Wednesday that he had died. Then the Star Tribune followed with a blog post stating the same thing, citing the Vikings report. Jake Reed, former receiver, was tweeting that Thomas was not dead and his agent confirmed it. They' even had Dennis Green comment on his "death." Denny was obviously relieved when he found out it wasn't true. Ugh.

There have been several really good stories about Thomas's battle with ALS. A friend of mine back in Minnesota was diagnosed around the same time and, of course, has been getting weaker and weaker, losing more ability. What a horrible disease.

AP picked up the story and had to run a kill. Whoops.

Can't blame AP for this one. Their source was the Vikings.
