Orlando Cruz (http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum...3086&cat=boxer), a 2000 Olympian who is currently ranked number four in the world by WBO at featherweight just came out. I expect some people will have a hard time dealing with the idea that a gay man can have a relatively successful boxing career.

    One of Cruz's recent fights...

Orlando Cruz Vs Michael Franco (October 14, 2011) (Civic Center, Kissimmee, Florida, United States) (interim WBO Latino featherweight title)

Shouldn't be too hard to accept. This guy did OK.

He can't. Hitting below the belt is against the rules and subject to disqualification.

What the hell is the Interim WBO Latino Featherweight Title?

And is it any relation to the WBA Great White Hope Featherweight Title?

It's slightly more legitimate - I stress, slightly - than the Divas title.

Ask Benny (Kid) Paret what happens when you rag your opponent for being gay.

Spent a night after the fights in Buffalo drinking with Emile Griffith, who at the time was working with Riddick Bowe who was in the main event that night. Funny, charming man, who could really hold his booze, but not a guy you wanted to fuck with.

One of the most saddest things I've ever seen is that fight where Paret dies. It's on Youtube.
