Awful story to read about....teens out on the town looking for action....fatheaded, misguided big-shot wannabe athletes at local university in a large town.
Sad, sad, sad to see these repeated, societal patterns by collegians who are in a position to set a positive example.
The girls need better guidance and supervision at home.
The boys need jail time. Even if it was willing participation, they are children in the eye of the law and can't be lured to participate in such action.

Incorrect. The age of consent is 16.

I thought her post was satire.

If the willing consent age is 16, then so be it.
We have ourselves a straight rape or no-rape trial, I guess.
If the girls are bitching about anything, the respective lawyers can have a shootout in court.
If that is the legal age - 16 - and the police have made their conclusion, then what's the big deal other than sensational reporting?

Seemed like it was a big deal a half hour ago.

It's a big deal unless the state they live in looks at them as adults.
They are acting within the law that governs them, but in another state everyone is also on the same page that underage sex is against the law.

Does it bother me that kids in the spotlight make poor choices? Yes.
I think screwing around with a 16-year-old is a bad choice, but I'm able to accept it and not think so much about it since she was legal age.
I don't agree with what he allegedly did, if that's what you are asking.
The movie "Thirteen" is one that sort of rankles the same way this story does.
I hope my 5-year-old doesn't eventually cause me as much a headache as the girls in this Overton story likely cause their parents.
And I think often of what it's gonna be like when she does become a teen.

I hope the girl is prosecuted for filing a false report.

  8. I think she be named. Just like the accused.

I hate that about this kind of stuff.

Charged, apparently, in an unrelated sex case (promoting prostitution)?

And here I was expecting a thread about Newt Gingrich's campaign suspension announcement.

Just glad it wasn't an SJ outing.
