Bumped to the top... found this on Facebook... apparently the new deadlines caused the OCR's customer service department (which is based in Colorado) to get over 30,000 complaint calls.

This is the Facebook thread. Read the comments. Wowee wow wow wow.

It's not the early deadlines that are causing the complaints. It's that they're not getting their paper delivered.

    Apples, oranges, etc. lol

Just thought it was fun to share this. Maybe not so much fun for the customer service department, but...

And we have a publisher change.

Richard Mirman, a former executive at Harrah’s Entertainment known in Las Vegas for his talents in casino marketing, has been named interim publisher and chief executive of the Orange County Register.

after reading some of the complaints, I don't think there is a customer service department.

The OCR has certainly made a mess of things. On so many fronts.

But I do know that recalcitrant delivery people can bring a print operation to its knees.

So true. Used to have a circulation director who would tell me "it doesn't matter how good your article is if I can't get it into people's driveways."

Recalcitrant delivery people? That's why the paper's not getting delivered? Really?

You're being specific. I'm being general. And recalicitrant delivery people can bring a print operation to its knees.

If a game ends too late for print, acknowledge the deadline constraints but never try to write anything about the teams involved. That's a rookie mistake.

If Oregon's leading UCLA 15-13 with nine minutes left, I have no problem putting that in the late-game box. UCLA coming back to win would have no bearing on that.
