Are you a fan of good football, great racing, warm weather and the beach?
    If so, let’s talk.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal is seeking an organized, detail-oriented, multitasking copy editor and designer for its Sports desk.
The successful candidate will be a team player who can:
    • Effectively edit copy
    • Keep our website fresh
    • Expand the reach of our content through social media
    • Design clean and effective pages
    • Make deadline
We cover 18 high schools, four local colleges (Bethune-Cookman University, Stetson University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Daytona State College), auto racing and, of course, NASCAR's biggest race, the Daytona 500.
Our area prep football teams have produced roughly 30 Division I signees the last two years, B-CU has won three of the last four MEAC titles and you probably already know about our state schools – FSU, UF and UCF.
Our staff is talented and works hard, but still has fun. We’ve won eight APSE awards the last two years, including back-to-back honors for our website and Sunday sections, two top-5s in breaking news and two top-5s in explanatory writing.
The successful candidate should be familiar with InDesign, and this position requires night and weekend work.
The Daytona Beach News-Journal is owned by Halifax Media Group, which consists of 36 newspapers and affiliated websites in five states. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package.
Applicants from Florida and the Southeast are encouraged to apply. Please send a cover letter, resume, page samples and copy that you've edited to: Attn: Human Resources, The Daytona Beach News-Journal, P.O. Box 2831, Daytona Beach, FL, 32120-2831, or email hr@news-jrnl.com. EOE. No phone calls, please.
