My opening day thought is that we don't really need two baseball threads.

MLB ExtraInnings has a free preview.

As a Pirates fan, I don't see what the big deal is about Opening Day.

Also, too, MLB should have all the teams play today and use MLB Network like the RedZone Channel, cutting from game to game and showing every run scored.

Unlike the NFL, there are 30 separate TV contracts in MLB.

I'm sure MLB could afford to get the TV rights for cut-ins on Opening Day.

Even the Pirates' rosin bags are substandard ...

Opening Day thoughts? It's going to be a looooong year for the Twins. Not exactly breaking news, but that's my thoughts. When Vance Worley is the best you can do as your opening day starter, your rotation needs help.

The Nuttings must have put the rosin bag makers on furlough.

The old gag rosin bag trick. An April Fools classic.

If Magic is going to be the Dyann Cannon of the Dodgers I'm thinking I'm already missing McCourt. At least Lasorda wore an ill-fitting uniform.

This is why pitchers hit: 0-0 into bottom-8 and Kershaw -- working on a 3-hit, 0-walk, 7-K game -- leads off with a homer. That begets a 4-run burst that still hasn't ended.
