Online sports content editor -- Cedar Rapids, Iowa

The sports areas of The Gazette.com and KCRG.com, along with IowaPrepSports.com, are already major players in keeping dedicated audiences informed and engaged on the local and collegiate sports scene. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate sports enthusiast with a background in social media to take our digital sports coverage, community engagement and social efforts to the next level.

Responsibilities include editing, packaging, publishing, and maintaining the sports content for TheGazette.com and KCRG.com branded channels, IowaPrepSports.com and other digital products as necessary. Candidates must have a strong sense of urgency, energy and creativity to actively engage with audience members and seek out contributions.

Position requires Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field with one to two years experience as a digital editor, web writer, sports writer or blogger, multimedia producer or content strategist. Knowledge or the local prep and collegiate sports scene is a plus. Candidates must possess good communication techniques and organization skills, have a background in web writing and digital content editing, and be proficient and knowledgeable with social media.
