    Been the preps beat guy in a relative backwater (S. Miss.) for a long time. Not big-time, and the competition is almost non-existent, but I've become the expert for prep sports in this area, and my readers look to me for information and analysis on the area's high schools (of which there are about 25).

    That carries with it a sense of responsibility that I take seriously. Even though it's not big-time by any stretch, I'm a veteran and a pro, and I treat my beat like it's the most important thing in the world, and I think the readers here appreciate that.
