On the day baseball's biggest fraud is indicted, we lose Joe Nuxhall

Discussion in 'Journalism topics only' started by PalmettoStatesport, Nov 16, 2007.

  1. RIP Joe.
I had the opportunity of meeting him once.
Helluva nice guy. Cincinnati is not the same today without him, that's for sure and take it from someone who now lives in the greater Cincinnati area

Guy pitched in the majors at 15 ... think about that for a moment ...

Sad, loved listening to the Old Lefthander and Marty Brenneman.

I'm impressed that after pitching at 15, he was able to come back several years later and have a good pro career.

    RIP

"this is the old left-hander rounding third and heading for home."

I grew up on a steady diet of Joe Nuxhall. There wasn't a summer night in the first 20 years of my life that i didn't have the radio tuned into Marty and Joe. His style was uniquely Joe, as anybody who has ever heard one of his "fly ball hit to right-left center field" can appreciate.

To me, Joe Nuxhall is baseball.

    RIP

Though two threads about a death probably isn't such a bad thing. ...

  6. I did not see it and I apologize

Ah, no need to apologize. On a day when everyone and their brother is proclaiming the game's doomed, we are reminded of what is good about the game and what can be in the future.

RIP, Joe. You're finally headed home.

I doubt anyone will ever again do what Nuxhall did at 15.

    RIP.
