Blackie Sherrod has got to be in his 80s. He only retired a few years ago (right ahead of the DMN bean-counter massacre.)

Mickey Furfari covers WVU for a number of dailies in the state.

He's in his early to mid 80s -- I don't remember the exact age -- but files as many as four stories a day. During football/basketball season, he's often around 12-17 per week.

    That would be a surprise.

Dave Campbell in Texas is in his mid-80s. He retired from the Waco Tribune-Herald several years back and then started a weekly/monthly (not sure which) publication for Baylor. And he still writes the opening for his great, great magazine, Dave Campbell's Texas Football, but I think that's about the only thing he does with that now since he's sold it.

    Who's the youngest American sportswriter?

Screw that. Who's the oldest non-American sportswriter?

[I guess we've got Furman Bisher as the winner here, with Sid Hartman -- as usual -- as the loser.]

Whatever happened to that 10-year old or 3-year old kid ESPN had 'working' for them a few years ago?

He was the son of a producer or lackey with the WWL and supposedly was the cool new face of YoungMedia.

Perhaps he realized 5th grade was more normal than holding a microphone.
