Old technology you have to explain to kids

    One of the things that sucked in the 19th and early 20th centuries wasn't just the horses, but when the horses died.

    Especially in cities, dead horses were often left on the sidewalk or in the street for a day or two or three until cleaning crews came by and got them. Imagine: 1. Working on a crew that picked up dead horses and 2. the smell and sight of them on the streets.

    Just used one a few minutes ago. I still think they are slightly relevant.

    We had a horse get hit by a car.

    It took three days for two grown men to dig the grave.

    I have no idea how they moved it from the road to the back property, where they buried it.

    And good riddance to those places like Blockbuster. Such outrageous prices and inconvenience, and it was usually about impossible to get the movies back in time to avoid fines. Not literally, of course, but stuff would always come up that would keep you from getting the movies back in time.

    Pretty much spot on. I had a math teacher in high school that called copies "dittos," anyone else?
