    '55 VW Bug ragtop. My dad bought it sometime around '59 and it spent years sitting in garages. I got it in '83.

    It also didn't have turn signals. It originally had semaphores but they apparently never worked and had been covered up years before I got it, so I always had to do hand signals.

    I recall my first big time event I covered. I had to keep my hand on the phone to 'feel' it ring. That's how loud the crowd was. It was a regular corded phone in an NFL press box. That was a cool story to tell for a few years. Now, no one would grasp why feeling the ring instead of hearing it ring was a big deal.
