Old Dogs and New Tricks

  1. Bob Ryan is one of the more senior sports writers in the country. I give him credit for embracing new things. In today's column about the trade deadline moves - he talks about Berkman's high OBP and OPS. He praises Kearns for his Zone Rating. In short he shows that he's embraced not just the more mainstream sabermetric measurements - he incorporates them into his writing in such a way that is a joy to read.

His copy editor has failed him in one small spot, but otherwise that was nice.
